Malaysia Airports kicks off F1 season with new retail initiative
To coincide with the Malaysian Grand Prix, Malaysia Airports has organised a series of activities to boost the retail and food & beverage business at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).
From now until 25 March, customers who spend a minimum of RM50 (US$16.25) on up to three accumulated receipts will be eligible to participate in any of the activities offered. These include the F1 Troupe Invasion where F1 girls will engage customers to take part in the ‘Spot the Difference’ game, as well as a Racing Simulator at the Main Terminal Building’s Level 5 Stage Area and the Satellite Building’s Centre Hub Area.
Customers who managed to spot all the differences and win the race within the stipulated time will stand a chance to win shopping vouchers worth up to RM100. These can be redeemed with purchases of RM30 and above at any retail and food & beverage outlet in KLIA.
“This is an annual event that we have at KLIA in conjunction with the Malaysian Grand Prix. Through such efforts, our goal is to heighten travellers’ awareness of the offerings and services at KLIA and add to their overall travel experience,” said Malaysia Airports Senior General Manager, Commercial Services Puan Faizah Khairuddin.
In line with its focus on positioning airports as lifestyle destinations, Malaysia Airports is aggressively expanding its food & beverage offer, particularly at flagship gateway KLIA.
New to KLIA is Fukuya, which offers Japanese cuisine. Located at the Satellite Building, the restaurant’s best sellers include Double Boiled Salmon Belly Soup and Hokkaido Scallop Butter sautéed with Teriyaki duck liver.
Marrybrown made its debut at KLIA’s Contact Pier Domestic, serving fried chicken, burgers, seafood and rice dishes to domestic travellers. Also new is Dunkin Donuts located at Level 3 of the Main Terminal Building, catering to arriving travellers as well as meeters and greeters.
In addition, international travellers can use the thematic lounges available at the Satellite Building – the News Lounge, Movie Lounge and Sports Lounge are located at Level 1 of the South Zone, East Zone and North Zone respectively. Furnished with sofas and 42-inch LED screens, each lounge has an internet kiosk providing free WiFi service and equipped with four Samsung Galaxy Tabs.
“Malaysia Airports, in partnership with our business partners, has been striving to expand the retail and food & beverage footprint as well as the services available within our airports. Travellers and visitors to our airports can expect more in the days ahead as we welcome more renowned brands and services to KLIA,” Khairuddin added.
